We are amazed at how this project has taken off in the past few weeks. We want to share some success stories with you on how families have been impacted by the support they’ve received from their sponsors. We also are including some stories from sponsor families on their experience with Adopt a Flood Family.
From Brandy S in Livingston Parish, who was affected by the Great Flood of 2016
“Adopt-A-Flood-Family has been such a blessing and encouragement to our family!!!…We had no flood insurance, were denied FEMA as well as denied a Small Business Loan. I am a single mother who works full time…The extent of my home building knowledge has never been more that painting and hanging a few things on the walls! You can imagine the mountain I’ve been faced with. My daughter and I took a free class on drywall that our local Community College offered. If it weren’t for my Lowes credit card and donations and moral support from friends, families, and non-profit groups like Adopt a Flood, I would have never been able to muster up the courage to take on the renovation of our home! All the work you see (minus the floors and kitchen cabinets) has been done by myself, my 65 year old father, and a couple of my best girlfriends. So from the deepest part of our hearts, THANK YOU!!”
Summer L from Baltimore, MD, who sponsored an affected family
“It was a very meaningful experience to sponsor a family. We were able to send a small gift in the form of a gift card toward their rebuilding efforts. It was inspirational for us to see the strength of this single mother and how she is persevering. I believe that for her, it was important to know that others out there cared.”
